Sun Hongyi Sun Yat-sen And The Kuomintang Political Visits

Sun Hongyi was one of the radical constitutional reformers at the end of Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, who headed the list to hold the congress, founded some constitutional organizations. After the foundation of the republic of China, he participated in the organization of Democratic Party and Progressive Party in order to realize constitutionalism. But the leader of Democratic Party and Progressive Party colluded with Yuan Shikai in order to suppress Kuomintang and jeopardize democratic procedure, which dashed Sun Hongyi's wish. After a period of depression, Sun Hongyi and Sun Zhongshan worked together and collaborate politically for a long time.During the Campaign to Defend the Republic, Sun Hongyi collaborated with China Revolutionary Party led by Sun Zhongshan to fight against Yuan Shikai. After the death of Yuan Shikai, Li Yuanhong was elected president, and Sun Hongyi took up the post of Chief of the internal affairs of Duan Qirui Cabinet to cooperate with Kuomintang and fight against the northern warlords. In 1917, Sun Hongyi joined Sun Zhongshan's constitution protection movement to resist northern warlord's government's illegal action against republic. Sun Hongyi has been assigned as Cabinet Chief of Law-defending Government, representative of military government in Shanghai, one of the representative of the staff to deal with peacefulness, senator of Kuomintang successively by Sun Zhongshan. Under the designation of Shun Zhongshan, he did some propaganda, alienated northern warlord, dealt with the reception of the people assigned by military government and military arrangement, organized and encouraged Shanghai people to resist Wanxi, supported the senator from "Minba" to go to Beijing to contend the law with the senator from "Minliu". Especially, in 1922 he made a great contribution to combine Li Dazhao and Sun Zhongshan, which led to the cooperation of Communism Party and Kuomintang.At the end of the constitution protection movement, there were some differences on how to treat Wanxi and Zhixi with Sun Zhongshan(especially with Zhang Taiyan from constitution protection government). In 1923 he bribed in the election, which not only damaged Sun Hongyi's political fame, but affected the cooperation between Sun Hongyi and Sun Zhongshan. However, it should be pointed out that Sun Hongyi always showed great respect for Sun Zhongshan and they kept intimate personal friendship all the time.By looking at Sun Hongyi and his adherents had close political cooperation with Sun Zhongshan and his Kuomintang, and by comparison with other constitutional reformers' relation with Sun Zhongshan and his Kuomintang in the republic period, Sun Hongyi was the only constitutional reformers who cooperated with Sun Zhonnshan lasting the longest.
