The Report of the 17th Party Congress considers developing grass-roots democracy and ensuring people more democratic rights as an important task in the socialist political construction. It shows that our party pays highly attention to the development of grass-roots democracy. China is a large agricultural country. Rural women who take half of the population in the countryside are one of the main parts in the development of countryside. In building a new socialist countryside, and promoting rural grass-roots democracy, we can not ignore the role of rural women. At present, although"The Law of Villagers'Autonomy"provides legal protection and institutional support for political participation of rural women, some places have achieved success, there are also some shortcomings. This paper has summarized and analyzed the achievements and shortcomings of political participation of rural women. And it has discussed the factors affecting political participation of rural women. Then this paper puts forward suggestions in order to promote political participation of rural women and the development of grass-roots democracy.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part has analyzed the meaning of political participation and political participation of rural women. This part analyses the significance of political participation of rural women from three perspectives. Firstly, political participation of rural women is the important force of building new socialistic countryside. Secondly, it's the inevitable requirement of developing socialist democratic politics. Thirdly, it's the key means of realizing the development of rural women themselves.The second part has analyzed the current condition of political participation of rural women and the influential factors in the rural grass-roots democracy. This part summarizes the improvements and analyses the shortcomings taking Li Village as a case.The third part puts forward countermeasures on how to promote political participation of rural women. Firstly, strengthen rural women's political awareness and ability. Secondly, improve the system of villagers'autonomy. Thirdly, improve the rural environment.
