| Government functions in environmental sustainable development are the major topics that all levels of government are facing now. In this paper, Weihai sustainable development-oriented government functions are discussed, at the basic of the changes and problems in promoting sustainable development. There are three aspects in the paper. (1) Weihai municipal government in urban development has played a tremendous role. According to the Town positioning and the actual conditions, Weihai Municipal Government make the selection of sustainable development which are in line with the requirements of the development and the pressure from environment. (2) Weihai in sustainable development is continuously groping forward and also has made significant progress. However, the role of government is still difficult, especially in industrial upgrading and developing recycling economy. (3) Economic development should be coordinated with environmental protection in the progress of the implementation of sustainable development. Developing circular economy, promoting green technology innovation and the environmental protection industry, setting up eco-tax system are effective measures to achieve the coordination of government and market interactions. |
