The third technological revolution since the middle of the 20th century has brought unprecedented changes to the world and tremendously enhanced the social productivity. The accompanying globalization has shrunk the world and boosted interdependence among various participants. At the same time, a great many problems have also arisen which pose a threat to the safety of the world, state-nations and individuals. These problems are the so-called nontraditional security issues which have loomed large and attracted much attention with the deepening of globalization and are increasingly becoming as important as traditional security issues. The paper seeks for an all-round understanding of nontraditional security issues. After studying and analyzing the specific nontraditional security issues and their characteristics faced by China, it tries to find a reasonable way to tackle these problems against the backdrop of the modernization move. It has also systematically elaborated on the influence of nontraditional security issues on China's diplomacy, the role and weak points of China's diplomacy in coping with these problems and, given advice on how China should response through diplomacy.
