As two great powers, the relationship between Russia and India has attracted worldwide attention. The relation not only affects the regional situation but also the international situation. Russia and India have been close partners in history. In Cold War, the two countries regard each other as an important ally against the United States. However, with the end of the Cold War, the relations between the two had become cool. As the main successor state of the Soviet Union, Russia's power cannot compare with the USSR. It cannot provide reliable support to India. At the same time, its own foreign policy has made tremendous adjustments. And India has begun to move closer to the United States. But the two countries realize the importance of each other later. Yeltsin's visit to India marks the recovery of the relationship between the Russia and India. In new era, the two nations cooperate in economic, military, political and so many areas. But in today's complex international environment, there are many factors which affect the bilateral relations, for example, the U.S. factor, the China factor and so on. What are the new characteristic in the relation between the two countries? What is the prospect for this relation in future? This article tries to answer these questions.
