Contemporary Chinese Northern Rural Youth Values ​​in Modern Background

The theory of Modernity is the basic background knowledge for social science research. It is significant to do research with the perspective of modernity and it is certain that modernity has a rich connotation.Modernity closely relates with modernization. Lots of scholars hold the opinion which I agree that modernity is a philosophical concept with the abstract nature showing the features of modernization. At present, modernization is the global tendency and during the process of the modernization, almost all the nations in the world share the common spirit which reflects the modernity. Today, we can easily find the rationality of the social systems and more secularity of people's thoughts and feelings of daily life. These are the typical features of modernity.Great changes have taken place since China has been carrying out the policy of opening-up. Even in the rural areas, modernization has bring its benefits to most people and with this foundation, the productive power has been greatly enhanced, the economic and political systems in the countries is becoming more and more perfect. Under this circumstance, the young people's values in the rural area have changed a lot and they are quite different from the traditional ones, because they are in the more modernized society with the influence of modernity spirit. So their values are more rational. This dissertation will reveal the root reasons of the alternation of young people's values today in rural areas, especially in the northern China by comparing the social features before and after opening-up in the rural areas.
