U.S.A. was nowadays the sole superpower in the world, and its global strategies and foreign policies directly or indirectly affected the interests of other countries. With the end of the Cold War and Soviet Union's dissolution, the importance of Northeast Asia was increasingly obvious, and there now was becoming the interface which the major powers met. From the perspective of Geopolitics and maintaining its global hegemony the United States gave a high concern to Northeast Asia, especially After the Cold War, and the Clinton administrations focused on the Northeast Asian Affairs much more than any other governments before the Cold War. In this paper, the author takes the U.S. policies in Northeast Asia as his main object of study before and after the Cold War, describes the U.S. policy in Northeast Asia, and uses systematic and comparative methods, in order to get the reasons why the United States adjusted its policies and also get its characteristics of U.S. policy in Northeast Asia. The author inspects the U.S. policy of Northeast Asia from a broader perspective, that is to say, taking Northeast Asia as a whole to study. Accurately analyzing the policies of the United States in Northeast Asia is good for us to grasp and improve the bilateral relations between the United States and other Northeast Asian countries in the future.
