Because of the special location, the region of East Asia is always being focused on by the public. With the disaggregation of the Soviet Union, and the end of the Cold War, a lot has been changed in Northeast Asia. The nuclear crisis in Korean Peninsula, the peaceful rise of China, the so called Taiwan issue and the issue of East China Sea between China and Japan, all of these made the continuous change of the area.9·11attack made the change of American Asia-Pacific strategy:a new trend of change happened in US-Japan and US-Korea Alliance; through changing the "Peaceful Constitution", Japan was aiming to get the goal of "Normalized State ". The unilateral strategy that executed in Bush’s government, the continued wars in Afghanistan&Iraq, and the worldwide financial crisis erupted in2008influenced not only the power,but also the interests of the United States.Every leader of the US government never stop adjusting American Asian policy relating to its global strategy and the Asian strategy at post-Cold War era.For a long time, the idealism occupied the key point in American foreign policy. After the Cold War, the neo-conservatism began to make effects, which led the American strategy to be effected by a combination of minds, resulting in a variety of strategic models. American policy reflected the feature of a wide range of strategic models.Throughout American East-Asian policy at post-Cold War period, the characteristic of the combination of more than one strategic model was reflected.After the Cold War, to find a new opponent became the main target to American. After World War Ⅱ, the region of East-Asia had become one of the fastest area in economy worldwide. China had been becoming one of the most important powers in this area because of the vast territory, huge number of population and the reform and open-up policy. To the US, the rising China had become the main opponent in East Asia, restraining the rising China was the first goal in American Asian strategy. According to this goal, the US government adjusted its strategy in the area of East Asia, which also made a great reflection of countries in East Asia.To analyse the theoretical basis about American policy in East Asia, to put the American East Asian policy in proper order, to give a brief introduction in Sino-US relationship,and to predict the possible trend of American Asian policy in Obama’s government. All of the above will be discussed in this thesis.
