The foudamental purpose and aim is to transform prisoners into law-abiding citizens, which is the difference between the socialist prison system and any old prison system in history. Under the lead of this theory, our prison's career has made brilliant achievements once before .And we can just take the great victory of transforming. However, with the gradual development of reforming and opening, the prison has been pushed into a special position because of its unique nature-Duality (both judiciary and enterprise ), which is a consequence of the market economy as well.Prisons in increasing numbers neglect the transformation on the criminals due to the endless pursuit of economic profits, resulting in the disorder of prison regulations as well as the decreasing rate of successful transformation and year-by -year increasingly criminal rate of released prisoners. Without doubt, this has seriously weaken the law's authority, reduced the judicable deparment's position in people's mind and has a severe impact on the construction of the harmonious society at the same time. So we must take immediate measures to deal with the issues mentioned above. Only if the transformation and education of people is put in primacy can we improve the quality of education for criminals continuously. In addition, it will make a contribution to further implementing the scientific concept of development and building a harmonious society.The theme of this paper is'Ideological education work of prisoners', using several methods to analyses, such as literature ,comparative studies, observation , accessing, etc. the paper attempts to analysis into the ideological education of prisoners .Firstly, it makes an accurate definition of the ideological education work on the prisoners. Secondly, it conducts a thorough analysis on the current situation and meanwhile, identifies the specific reasons that affect the ideological education work of the prisoners at present. At last, several ideas and suggestions have been put forward with the aim of improving the prisoners' ideological education work.
