With the continuous reform of opening-up to the outside world and deepening the market economic system,Chinese society has undergone dramatic transformation. In the process of the transformation,the social economic sector,the main body of property,the social lifestyle,the employment policy and the occupation situation have profoundly changed and greatly affected people's thoughts. As the most sensitive group in the community,college and university students'ideas,value orientation,ways of thinking,behaviors and vocational concepts are inevitably impacted. Their vocational values are in a state of unprecedented fluctuation and contradiction facing the increasingly serious employment situation in recent years. The quality of vocational values not only leads to college and university students'future development of career life,but also concerns the improvement of social employment situation, to the healthy development of higher education, and to building a harmonious society, etc.From the macroscopic angle,Chinese government has taken actions to coordinate and guide in solving the employment difficulties by means of setting up regulations and making new policies. Colleges and universities, as the main places for students'study and life, have the advantages and responsibility to play a significant role of cultivating talents for Socialism and building up correct vocational values in their minds. College and universities have the power to implement the government's policy on the students'vocational guidance, and can also play their functions on educating the students for healthy vocational ideas.This essay elaborates on the contents and basic principles of the vocational values education for the college and university students in the specific transition period at present in Chinese history. It defines the concept of vocational values and develops its contents. Analyzing the problems of vocational values educating at colleges and universities, we find these substantial difficulties: emphasis on form while ignoring the connotation, lacking explicit educating goal, stereotypical teaching method, unqualified teachers, low-level specialized teaching, utilitarian and short-term behavior and so on. The primary cause of the above problems results from incomplete understanding of the education connotation of vocational guidance work for the college and university students, being lack in theoretical guide and systematical guarantee. The author indicates that the following six aspects should be enforced to work out the countermeasure in this specific transition period. Firstly, strengthen the theoretical education of the college and university students'vocational values, help them to coordinate their individual vocational values and the social requirements, improve the college and university students'vocational education for all-around development and the occupation ideal education. Secondly, fulfill the education contents of vocational values and make it more practical, which consists of curriculum designing, career planning, training of vocational capability and innovative undertaking. Thirdly, multiply the teaching methods of college and university students'vocational values, stress the vocational values education for the whole process and combine with the practical education, the personalized education, the psychologically healthy education and the function of campus culture education. Fourthly, strengthen professionalized and specialized construction of the teachers.
