The concept of "soft power" received more and more attention after being putting forward since the 1980s. For a nation, comprehensive strength is divided into "hard power" and "soft power". On contemporary university students is concerned, its comprehensive strength can also be divided into two parts, "soft power" and "hard power". "Soft power" is the core competitiveness of comprehensive strength, it is a kind of recessive charisma and impetus. The 21st century is the era of knowledge economy with increasingly fierce competition, and employing units make requires of higher quality for university graduates. In response to the needs of society and employment competition, college students should actively pursue the training of "soft power" in order to provide safeguard to adapt to the society competition in the future . Contemporary college students excessively value "hard power", just as CET certificate, computer grade certificate honorary certificate and so on. They has poured too much time and energy in "hard power" , neglecting the cultivation of "soft power". Based on the study of the concept of "soft power", this paper takes undergraduate students as the main body of "soft power", and defines the connotation of employment "soft power" from three aspects, "for people", "for things" and "for oneself". Through the investigation and research of contemporary college students' employment soft power's present situation, this paper finds out the problems that students' "soft power" is absent and correspondingly comes up the path of helping them advance their ascension employment "soft power". It is very important for college students' employment with theoretical guidance meaning and realistic significance.To learn about the present situation of university students' employment "soft power", the article adopts the way of questionnaire, it makes an empirical study of the employment of college graduates "soft power", which makes a sample survey aiming at the college students of different grades in Shandong normal university. And through the analysis of the questionnaire, this paper sums up the flaws residing in contemporary college students' employment "soft power"; Through analyzing the status quo, this paper finds out the unfavorable factors affecting the development of "soft power ", and in the light of these disadvantages , this paper puts forward the corresponding countermeasures to improve college students' employment "soft power" And it hopes that these countermeasures can help the employment of college students go smoothly, in the present severe employment situation .This paper mainly consists of four parts: the first part: the connotation of contemporary college students' employment "soft power". According to the problems residing in contemporary college students' employment "soft power" ,the paper looks for reasons , mainly from two sides the subjective factors and objective factors .Part four: effective methods of improving contemporary college students employment "soft power" .To process employment "soft power" ,it needs the associated effort of own personal ,school, family and community. Olny in this way aid the training of graduate employment "soft power" get relatively satisfactory results ,and resolve the contradiction of irrational employment structure of college students to make the graduates stand out from the crowd in intense social competition ,to find a satisfying job and to achieve own ambition in the practice.
