Chinese homework is an important component of the Chinese textbook. It offers various practices, questions and activities, with the purpose of helping students to review and consolidate Chinese knowledge, cultivate and improve Chinese ability. In the background of the new curriculum innovation, paying attention to students'development, starting from students'needs are the basis of designing and assigning homework by Chinese teachers.Under the circumstance of quality-oriented education system, a lot of problems have emerged, such as the overloades of homework, the loss of study interest and the suppression of creativity. As the extension of lecturing, Chinese homework plays a very important role in teaching. Chinese teachers need to think about a lot of questions: how to care about learning process of students; how to respect students'affective experience; how to make homework a stage for students'imagination and creativity; how to let students experience the pleasure of creation and expression in doing homework and so on. In the current Chinese education research field, plenty of efforts have been put into classroom teaching and research, while relatively less attention into the assignment of homework. In the teachers'teaching practice, such phenomenons exist as lectures have been fully prepared, whereas homework assignments are mechanically and casually given. Chinese textbook published by PEP is a new textbook with brand new contents, and complying with social development. It is a widely adopted edition in the nationwide Chinese education due to its emphasis on practicing, openness and its reflection of the spirit of our age. However, in the actual teaching practice, because of kinds of objective and subjective reasons, some homework in the textbook was not being used. Many teachers still assign the homeworks clinging to the old- fashioned methods, as a result, the superiority of the textbook has not been fully realized.Considering the problems mentioned above, the thesis starts from the concept of homework system, analyzes the role played by homework assignment in teaching practice. The author has looked up related studies, analyzed the structure and characteristics of the current junior middle school Chinese textbook published by PEP, combining with her own teaching practice, designed many kinds of Chinese homework. The author tries to improve the extension role played by homework, so as to improve students'Chinese ability. To make the study more effective, the author has done lots of research. A wide range of interviews and questionnaires have been carried out among teachers and students. Pertinence and authenticity are the outstanding feature of the paper. In addition, as the researcher is a Chinese teacher in the teaching field, she has grasped a large quantity of first-hand materials. To some extent, students'homework can reflect the researcher's achievements.This paper is divided into four parts: overview of basic theory in homework system of Chinese textbook for junior middle schools, composition and design features of homework system of Chinese textbook for junior middle schools published by PEP, research of the carrying out of homework system of Chinese textbook for junior middle schools published by PEP in Huai Yin district of Jinnan city and teaching strategy research of implementing homework system in Chinese textbook for junior middle schools published by PEP. The author, based on her own teaching practice, integrating theory with practice, tries to show the design feature and the actual practice of homework system in the Chinese textbook for junior middle schools published by PEP. The author hopes that this research can not only provide some evidence for the improvement of Chinese teaching, but also give some feasible reference to Chinese education colleagues.
