A headmaster who acts as a leader, a director and a decision maker plays an important role in the education and development of a school. Today, it has been a must for a headmaster to be a professional one when facing our modernization and school management. Moreover,it guarantees us to fully improve the education quality. Most of the headmasters did not major in education with record of formal schooling, so training the headmaster to be professional one is more important. It is a shortcut to promote headmasters to be professional by educating professionally. It has realistic significance to study and improve the ways of training the headmasters to make them professional according the real meaning of the term of professional headmaster.This research is aimed at the studying and thinking deeply about the theory and practice of the training of headmasters by analyzing the intension of the professional development of headmasters. By analyzing documents and the results of relative researching about the training of headmasters, this research made surveys and interview about the training programmes in S district in Beijing. The research focused on the rules, aims, contents, system of organization, mode and regular pattern of the training of professional headmasters. The training should be based on the actual requirement of the training. It must be able to promote headmasters to rethink profoundly and develop actively. It must also set the standards of training. The train should advance according to the general requirements as well as in different levels and various standards. The key points of training is to develop the professional ability of the headmaster. The system of organization should be diversification. The contents of the training should be decided by the headmasters who will be trained and the training institution. It should have more different forms of training and it should be a two-way selection.The training should develop the old ones and should find more new ways. It can serve the training well. Finally it will give some suggestions and hopes on the headmaster professional training. It must have new concept of training, clear aims, new creative contents, legal rules, various patterns. Only in this way can the headmaster become professional constantly and be successful one day.
