The Multiple Intelligence Theory proposed by Howard Gardner in 1983 provides the educators with important theoretical support and has made a profound impact on education. Now the related study has turned from theory discussion to applied strategy study in fundamental subjects. This paper is an applied research of the author's teaching practice under the direction of the Multiple Intelligence Theory. It aims at discussing and studying how to cultivate multiple intelligence in middle school geography teaching so that a model for improving teaching, carrying out teaching in accordance of aptitude, personalizing teaching and leaning as well as contributing to the integrated development can be provided in teaching practice.Documents study, comparison study, survey study, case study and many other research methods are adopted during the research. The study focuses on careful, theoretical and systematical exploration of the Multiple Intelligence Theory, the necessity of applying the Multiple Intelligence Theory into teaching practice, the present geography teaching situation, teaching skills, teaching models and teaching reconsideration. The main contents of this paper are as follows:The first part is the summary of the theory explaining what is intelligence and illustrating the background, standard and major content of multiple intelligence theory. Calling for the wise education and educating students with individuality has become the main theme of current educational reform. This paper states the necessity of multiple intelligence theory in educating students from the aspects such as the social needs, the needs of new curriculum reform and students' mental and physical development, traditional Chinese culture and the characteristics of geography course. The second part focuses on investigation and analysis. The present teaching situation and feasibility of multiple intelligence theory in geography class was investigated through case study, questionnaire and interview. The Multiple Intelligence Theory provides powerful support for the reform of new curriculums. During the process of cultivation, a series of problems will arise and the influential factors are from students, teachers, schools and social environment. The third part deals with the cultivation of intelligence in a case study. It states the teaching skills and models of the application of Multiple Intelligence Theory into teaching practice in geography classes. The author tries to put forward the object-control approach based on the Squared Up teaching methods and points out there are multi-approaches to cultivating multiple intelligence in geography class teaching and after class activities. Following the multiple intelligence theory and based on the Squared Up teaching methods, try to make the teaching design situational, teach for understanding and solving problems, carry out the pre-training program for future teachers, develop patterns of exploration teaching, case study teaching, non-guided teaching and overlapping subjects teaching patterns which aim at cultivating multiple intelligence of students. And these can be carried out by encouraging students to compile tests by themselves, debating, making hand-made works, borrowing magazines and other activities. In The fourth part self-reflection was made. Under the direction of the Multiple Intelligence Theory, a good teaching effect could be achieved in middle school geography class teaching and a more active atmosphere appears in class teaching. Class teaching efficiency is greatly improved and the students'comprehensive qualities are also well developed. What's more, to put aside the identity of being a teacher, be friends with students and select the contents and methods of multiple intelligent teaching with heart are very essential. The education is very complicated as well as difficult. Among these the most challenging part is the educational evaluation. It is very important to establish the appropriate evaluation system of multiple education and teaching for students, teachers and schools.
