So, the study on research ability of MA postgraduate education is especially important because of its disciplinary attribute, layering property and the social bias against the arts under the present background of the diversification of social ideas, inundation of social materials and utilitarian of social values.This thesis gives the basic definitions of research ability, MA postgraduates, further defines MA postgraduates'research ability in Shann'xi Normal University, points out the structural elements of MA postgraduates'research ability in Shann'xi Normal University including scientific research innovation ability, language skills, language understanding ability. logical reasoning ability, intuitive comprehension ability, data collection and processing ability and problem solving ability, illustrates the chief factors affecting MA postgraduates'research ability in Shann'xi Normal University including the individual, the tutor, curriculum, teaching, education management, scientific research facilities, scientific research funds, scientific research team, scientific research projects, academic exchanges and the scientific research base, and creatively develops the questionnaire about the factors affecting MA postgraduates'research ability in Shann'xi Normal University.The result of this study indicates that the relevance between MA postgraduates'research ability in Shann'xi Normal University and its influencing factors is notable, thus, it justifies the validity and correctness of the influencing factors. This is embodied as follows:gender has notable influence on the overall scientific research ability; the hometown location and working experience have notable influence on data collection and processing ability:grades have notable influence on the publication of papers; the total number under the same tutor in all the three years has notable influence on education management factor, scientific research team, academic exchange factor, the scientific research base and research ability factor; the guidance hours of the tutor in a week has notable influence on scientific research project, academic works written, tutor factor, course factor, education management factor, scientific research funds factor, scientific research team factor, project item factor, academic exchange factor, scientific—research ability factor; whether to cross the major, whether to take part-time jobs, and the main economic sources have no notable influencing factor on scientific research ability and all its influencing factors.On this basis, the thesis analyzes and discusses the differentiation between personal background characteristics and MA postgraduates'research ability and influential factors in Shann'xi Normal University, further points out the existing problem in the training of MA postgraduates'research ability in Shann'xi Normal University:the inferior research ability of the female postgraduates, the great differences between data collection and data analysis, lack of working experience the popular phenomenon of taking part-time jobs and crossing major studies, the weak ability to publish papers of lower-grade postgraduates the inefficient guidance from the tutor, the singleness of economic resources. Based on this, the thesis put forward effective suggestions for the training of MA postgraduates'research ability in Shann'xi Normal University as follows:pay more attention to the research ability of female postgraduates, increase the data collection and analysis ability of postgraduates, actively guide the practical activity for the postgraduates, treat the major-crossing studies correctly, take the part-time guidance of postgraduates seriously, stess the guidance of paper writing of the lower-grade, strengthen the tutor's guidance, and increase the award funds for the postgraduates.
