In the content of national policy on the implementation of free normal education system, the government of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region decided to carry out its own policy since 2010 after the government meeting convened on October 9th 2009 in order to ease the situation of teacher shortage(especially the teachers in primary and secondary schools) and positively respond to the <A decision to vigorously promote the number of minority language teachers> policy. There are 2 kinds of free normal students in Xingjiang: targeted and untargeted-area students. This report focusing on untargeted-area students because these students have no limit on length of service and employment restrictions, so investing the professional identity status and influencing factors can be a crucial evidence to find out whether these students are willing to be a frontline teacher after graduation and the method to improve the professional identity thus boost the quality of basic education in Xinjiang.Based on the professional identity questionnaire and interview on free normal students in Xingjiang that taken by the author, after analyzing all the data, we draw the conclusion that: the professional identity of free normal students in Xinjiang is above the middle level; compared to the little difference between different gender and major, a great difference occurred between whether they are the only child in their family, where are they from, the grade in school, nationality and family income; apart from the influence of the population variable factors, the professional identity are also influenced by social factors(Teachers treatment, policy and social stability), organizational factors(Tertiary schools which teach the free normal students and basic schools which train the students) and personal factors(conflict between personal willing, cross-cultural adaptability and the conflict between social responsibility and personal development).Focusing on the professional identity status of free normal students in Xinjiang, we put forward 2 suggestions to improve the professional identity status of free normal students after analyzing all the data: from social perspective, a favorable atmosphere of esteeming teachers and education should be constructed, free normal students education should be specifically separate from normal school students, increasing the attraction of teacher as an career; from personal perspective, a noble occupational values and firm spirit to be a teacher should be cultivated.
