The social work originated in western society, a product of industrialization and urbanization,began in charity activities, and gradually to be a grow-up discipline with its own professionalnature by absorbing the knowledge of psychology, sociology, management and other theoreticalknowledge. In the beginning of last century, the social work,similar to the western, enter intoChina in the form of charity and social welfare, because of the deterioration of the socialenvironment, the increase of social problems, and the young progressive intellectuals,who attemptto carry out the transformation of Chinese society,play an important role,too. The ReconstructionMovement of rural village, which was launched by Liang Shuming, just one of them.This article regards localization of social work of China as a basic guideline, uses the socialwork practice of The Republic of China(the1920s and1930s)-Liang Shumings’ ReconstructionMovement and Theory of Rural Village, which belong to the series of Reconstruction Movementof Rural Village, as its analysis object by applying literature research methods. And it intends toabsorb the various elements of social work from the Liang Shumings’ Reconstruction Movementand Theory of Rural Village and aim to play a positive role in promoting the current developmentof the localization of social work of China.Firstly, the author teases the causes,the development process and the complete state of theLiang Shumings’ Reconstruction Movement and Theory of Rural Village. Secondly, the authorconcludes the advantages(such as organizing team building, encouraging intellectuals into thecountryside, the founding of agricultural cooperatives)and the disadvantages(such as theover-reliance on government,no people of the countryside want to participate in the reconstructionmovement of rural village)of Liang Shumings’ Reconstruction Movement and Theory of RuralVillage. Thirdly, the author applies the methods of social work practice, such as case work, groupwork, community work, and theories of social work, such as empowerment theory and strengthsperspective theory, to analyze and interpret the Liang Shumings’ Reconstruction of Rural Villagein deep. Finally, the author makes specific discussion by combining the measures of practice of theLiang Shumings’ Reconstruction of Rural Village and the current community social work practiceof China, concluding that the Liang Shumings’ Reconstruction Movement and Theory of RuralVillage can also provide theoretical implications and practical values for the current developmentof localization of social work of China.
