Practical Research On The Connection Between "Science" Course And Junior Middle School "Physics" Course In Junior Middle School

The course of Science has been set for students in Grade Six and GradeSeven in Shanghai, which contains such knowledge as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, etc.Students are expected to get some basic knowledge of Physics from this course andget prepared for the course of Physics in Grade Eight. Science is a comprehensivecourse, focusing on the mutual fusion among several subjects while Physics is a singlecurriculum, focusing on systematicness and logicality in knowledge of physics. Thereare both connection and differences between the two courses. With theimplementation of the two courses, teachers found some problems on linking themup. This study discusses how to link the two courses up in an effective way.This study is based on the textbooks, curriculum standards, linking-upprinciples, linking-up teaching, teaching strategies and includes the followingresearches. First part is the theoretical framework of the study and the generalreview of the relevant studies. The second part discusses the reasons to choose thissubject, the purpose of the study, the ways to carry out the study and the structureof the study. The third part is a comparison and analysis of the two courses on thecurriculum concept, teaching goal, teaching content, teachers’ teaching andstudents’ learning, on the base of teaching practice and putting forward theprinciples and strategies of linking-up teaching. The next part is about the researchfrom designing the classes on " The production and propagation of sound wave","The image in a plain mirror" and so on which combine the two courses andputting them in practice. The last part summarizes the main findings of the study andgives some suggestions for teaching and learning. At the end, some limitations of thisstudy are listed.
