A Study On The Expectation Of College Students' Expectation

College Student Expectation refers to the first-year college students to attendcampus activities (teaching and extracurricular activities), interaction with others, andexpectation of campus environment in universities. In this paper, we used the"College students study Expectation Questionnaire"(CSXQ), which made byUniversity of Indiana, to learn the first-year college students (1) the expectations ofteaching activities;(2) the expectations of extracurricular activities;(3) theexpectations of interpersonal communication;(4) the expectations of the environmentin university.This research chooses1110full-time college freshmen in Shanghai as theresearch object. Part1is about "the expectations of teaching activities". Through thesurvey, we found that contemporary college students who expect their participation inthe activities of teaching are in the medium level. Part2is about the "the expectationsof the extracurricular activities". The results of this part showed that the score ismedium in the use of campus resources. The freshmen will not often take part in clubsor organizations and the scores are scattered. Part3is about "the expectations ofinterpersonal communication". The average score of this part is lower than the median.Part4is about "the expectations of the environment in university". It showed thatnearly95%of college freshmen are recognized their colleges or universities, at thesame time and nearly70%freshmen are like their new universities.Based on the research finding, this paper supplies some strategies (1) Managersshould maintain the good ifrst impression in college freshmen and provide thehardware and software as supporting services to reduce the gap between expectationand reality.(2) As the leaders in colleges and universities, we should understand thestatus of college freshmen such as the lack of learning initiative and enthusiasm and atthe same time we should also proposed remedial measures with regard to thisphenomenon.(3) In order to cultivate students to be beauty, intelligence and physiquefull scale development of builders and successors of the socialist cause, University leaders and educators should pay attention to rich the content and connotation ofcampus culture with rich content, new form of campus activities.
