As the enrollment scale of college students gradually expands in China,a great number of students are admitted to colleges and universities every year.The beginning of the freshman year is a very critical period which plays an important role in the study and growth of a college student throughout the four years.Entering a brand new environment,freshmen need to adjust their psychological state,adapt themselves to college life and promote their self-development.University campus' s cultivation of students is an important constituent part of the cultivation of future talents in China.Thus,it is of great significance to study the adaptability of freshmen and relevant suggestions and measures.It helps freshmen cope with problems that might occur at the beginning of the freshman year and improves their adaptability to the new environment.With freshmen who were admitted to X University in 2015 as the respondents,the study adopts the questionnaire survey method and the interview method to carry out the investigation.Besides,SPSS,the statistical analysis software,is applied to analyze the data so as to learn the aspects which freshmen find it difficult to adapt to and relevant influencing factors.The paper mainly analyzes the adaptability of freshmen in four aspects,namely life,study,interpersonal communication and emotion.As indicated by the analysis results,the overall adaptability of freshmen is relatively ideal.Among them,their adaptability is the strongest in the aspect of emotion while their adaptability in study is quite ordinary.In addition,although they well adapt themselves to the new environment when it comes to interpersonal communication,yet they still hope to further improve their adaptability in interpersonal communication.By analyzing the data gained by the survey and interview conducted from three perspectives,namely student,family and school,the paper works out main factors that affect the adaptability of freshmen.They are the style of personal association,the way to deal with emotion,students' relationship with their family members,the school's hardware and software conditions.In order to improve the adaptability of freshmen,the paper analyzes factors that lead to relatively low adaptability of freshmen and comes up with suggestions and measures to strengthen freshmen's adaptability from four angles,namely individual psychology,learning style,interpersonal relationship and social support.It not only effectively improves the adaptability of freshmen and promotes their healthy development but also enriches relevant research achievements of social work in the field of school.
