Analyzing the given task is the first step in solving a maths problem and it has a more important position in high school maths teaching. However, this has not yet been paid enough attention to by most teachers and students. In the published research documents, there is a lack of concrete cases on teaching how to analyze a maths problem and the operational approaches by teachers, especially lacking in research on targeting high school students. This paper is composed on the basis of the relative exposition and theories by experts home and abroad to research on the topic of developing the ability of analyzing the maths problems of high school students. Which adopts methods such as documents researching, investigation, interviewing and individual cases researching. The first aspect is analyzing cases and investigation. The first step is an interview to three students of different academic levels in the course of analyzing a mathematical function problem and by observing and comparing their differences we can draw the conclusion that teachers’guidance in analyzing the maths problem is the most needed and effective step for students of average academic level. What’s more, questionnaire surveys are adopted to help better understand students’habits in analyzing maths problems and the mistakes they usually tend to make and their causes. The second aspect is research on teaching practice. Firstly, relative strategic guidance is given to two individual cases:one is the confident and irritable type and the other is the self-abased and inactive one, which turns out to be effective. Secondly, in classroom teaching, students’ability of analyzing the problems is developed by approaches of concept teaching, targeted transformation training and giving some hints. The expected target of this research is to make the course of analyzing maths problems targeted and self-controllable and help students develop good habits of reflection on time on condition that students can clearly know the basic steps and principles of analyzing the problems. More importantly, to realize the above goals in classroom teaching and the overall improvement of students’ability.
