"Ordinary high school physical education and health course standard (experimentdraft)" aims to promote students’ physical, psychological and social adaptation ability,incorporating the knowledge and methodology that is closely related to students’physical and mental development of sports and health in order to ensure that the ideaof "health first" to be carried in real earnest. Mental health becomes more and moreimportant in the overall level of health and self-esteem is the core of mental health,which is considered to a variable that is the best predictor of life and emotionalchange. Physical self-esteem is the specific area of self-esteem and is defined as “aspecific comment on self body by the individual who is closely related to the socialevaluation”. Physical self-esteem could predict exercisers psychological benefits.Our country is a multi-ethnic country and much attention have been paid to theminority students’ mental health, especially those who study in Shanghai. The uighursare the main body of Xinjiang ethnic which occupy the highest percentage of highschool enrollment in the school in Shanghai. The study of the difference between theuighurs and the han nationality students in mental health help to test the universalityand uniqueness of psychology theory and also provide basis for the Ethnic Class inshanghai to carry out mental health education in a deep-going way.This research adopts the questionnaire method to investigate1188uighurs andhan senior high school students in Shanghai. The thesis adopts the method ofliterature material, mathematical statistics, interview and so on to study and analyzethe objects in different groups.The results show that:(1) there exist some significant differences in gender andnationality in the physical self-esteem between uighurs and han senior high schoolstudents. The physical self-esteem level of boys in the two ethnics is significantlyhigher than that of girls. Uighur students’ physical self-esteem level is significantlyhigher than han nationality students in high school.(2) The physical self-esteem of the two ethnics can interact in nationality and gender. That of uighur students in eachgrade is significantly higher than that of han students. There exist interaction betweennationality and grade. In the dimension of sporting skills and physical quality, gradeone uighur students are all significantly higher than that of grade one han students.The same situation happens to grade two.(3) There exist triple interactions ofphysical self-esteem in nationality, gender and grade in the aspect of physicalself-esteem of both ethnics. Through simple effect analysis: there exist extremelysignificant difference among the dimension of total score of physical self esteem,sporting skills, physical quality and self-value of uighurs and han grade1and grade2students.(4) there exist significant difference in physical self-esteem level amongdifferent grades of Uighur high school boys. Further multiple comparison analysisshows there exist significant difference in different degree between students in grade3and grade1. The same phenomenon happens between grade3and grade2.(5) Thephysical self-esteem level of students of both ethnics is closely related to the situationof school physical education teaching, extracurricular sports, sports competitionsituation, morning exercises, between-class exercises, the degree of satisfaction of thesituation of school physical education, and the evaluation of P.E. quality.Starting from the actual situation, the following suggestions are put forward:(1)improve and perfect the faculty of physical education and improve the quality ofphysical education.(2) to be student-oriented and actively guide students to ensure thestudents’ mental health.(3) update ideas and deepen understanding to actively developa variety of national sports teaching materials.(4) broaden the financing channels andvalue investment into physical education to ensure the need of sports teaching.(5)strengthen the government function and create a good physical environment.
