As the promulgation of Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standard in January2012, the subject position of students in English teaching is gradually valued. At the same time, to promote the formation and development of students’comprehensive language ability has become the overall goal of English teaching. Therefore, traditional teaching method will gradually be replaced by interactive teaching. Interactive teaching attempts and explorations in junior middle school have also been gradually developed. However, due to the influence of traditional English teaching and pressure from Senior High School Entrance Examination, the implementation of interactive teaching in junior middle school English teaching encountered some obstacles, which also produced some misconceptions. The thesis aims to find suitable interactive teaching modes for junior middle school through investigation, research and analysis of the actual situation of interactive English teaching in junior middle school and put forward some applicable suggestions so that some difficulties in practice can be solved. Hence the efficiency and quality of junior middle school English teaching can be improved and ultimately to promote the students’lifelong development.Firstly, in this thesis, the author summarizes the characteristics and principles of interactive teaching and interactive teaching modes that are suitable for junior middle school.Secondly, through classroom observation, questionnaires and individual interviews, the author investigated the actual situation of interactive English teaching in a Grade1junior high school. The investigation consists of classroom observation, recording, students’ understanding of interactive teaching as well as current feedback, evaluation of English teaching and teachers’understanding and application of interactive teaching. Through a series of investigations, the author comes to understand the application of interactive teaching in junior middle school, including interactive time, interactive forms, students’ participation, teachers’interactive feedback and evaluation. After analyzing the results of investigation, the author finds some misunderstandings of interactive teaching in practice and also analyzes the influence factors of junior high school English Interactive teaching from the aspects of teachers, students and the teaching environment.Finally, basing on actual situation of interactive teaching in English education, the author puts forward some suggestions for implementing interactive teaching and hopes it can be useful in actual application.
