Self-presentation game is a game activity to present one’s personal information to others, in order to form or influence other people’s attitude toward to itself. Drawing on the relative research about oral ability and teaching games at home and abroad, the essay combining analysis of students’ self-psychology and English textbooks, introducing self-presentation game into English class, aims to promote oral English abilities of senior students in primary school. First, this study carried out oral English testing with120subjects in four classes in Grade6of one primary school in Nanjing to check the reliability and validity of scoring form of oral English for primary school students. Then, based on an experiment class consisting of32students in Class3Grade6in this school and a control class consisting of33students in Class1Grade6, the study implements the project of self-presentation activities, conducts practical teaching experiment and researches the role of self-presentation game played in oral English ability. The result was presented as follows:1. The assessment of oral English falls into three categories:an application ability of language elements, discourse organization ability and social language ability. Only by taking into account of three aspects, can education assessment effectively and comprehensively testing oral English ability.2. Compared with traditional game teaching, self-presentation game can effectively improve oral English ability.3. Self-presentation game can help to promote oral English abilities of senior students in primary school from three dimensions including application ability of language element, discourse organization ability and social language ability.4. Self-presentation game played a significant role in promoting three ability description factors including applying sentence pattern flexibly, expressing sentences completely and offering rich materials in communication. However, it played insignificant role in pronunciation and intonation, grammar structure, appropriateness and communication strategy in expression.
