With the continuous development of society, people pay much more attention to the education quality. Currently, most of the schools are still focused on the exam-oriented education, every school will use the enrolment rate to enroll new students or assess teachers’ teaching quality. Under the influence of the traditional convention, the pressure of the college entrance examination and the social environment, many teachers are still using the traditional teaching method "Teachers’ teaching, students’ learning"; they pay much more attention to students’ knowledge than their mood, emotion and learning psychology, so students’ learning enthusiasm and subjective initiative can’t be fully played. However, in the twenty-first century, the talents we need are those who have the abilities of independent inquiry, questioning and criticism, cooperative learning and bold innovation. Nowadays, we are advocating quality-oriented education, students’all-round development and new curriculum reform; student-based education is a good teaching method because it takes all the factors into account and it also shows a clear direction for them. Due to this, some schools begin to carry out the reform of student-based education. However, we met many problems during the process of the reform, which made it couldn’t achieve the goal that we have expected. This study was conducted in Changji No.2Middle School in Xinjiang Province. Based on the real situation of this school, the paper suggested some practical topics for further study of the student-based education in other schools. The experiment contrast analysis showed that student-based education can not only motivate students’ learning interests but also improve their academic performances. In order to solve the problems we have met in the process of carrying out student-based education, some suggestions were made as follows:First, teachers not only should update their education concept but also get a deeper understanding of both student-based education and the new curriculum reform; only in this way, can teachers make sure that the education is based on students and rely on students roundly.Next, we should change the traditional teaching methods. Learning before teaching is a good way to teach students. Group cooperation and activity teaching can motivate students’ learning interests. They can also develop their geographical skills and the abilities of finding and solving problems.Third, geography examination system needs to be reformed.it should set up choose appropriate setting, focus on the examination of students’ skills. As long as exam system change, can cause the change of teachingFourth, it’s necessary to set up perfect teaching evaluation system, When we evaluate students, we should not only focus on their academic performances, the students’ evaluation is not only the teacher’s evaluation.Fifth, Efforts to improve teachers’ quality, teacher plays an important role in the student-based education. Teachers are the guarantee of carrying out the student-based education, so, we should improve teachers’ quality constantly.At the last, I Set up two contrast group, making teaching experimental comparison of semester, analysis of the data for the main changes from grades, main from learning motivation, study the change and the influence factors, and analyzes the reasons of the changes. After half year, student performance changes significantly, geography learning interest has increased, the earning initiative has enhanced, students are able to join the class discussion actively. According to the analysis of the affecting factors of learning, teachers’ teaching method, the reform of classroom, and the teachers’ evaluation will affect students geography study. The final conclusion:geography teaching should be to develop student-based education, because it can raise students’ score, cultivating students’ interest in learning geography, raises the student good study habits, also to training students’ ability of independent study, cooperative learning.
