With the implementation of China’s Basic Education Curriculum Reform,the layout of high school history textbooks presents a new appearance.Illustrations,which act as part of the history textbooks,are also indispensable resources in teaching.Due to the continuous improvement of teaching means and teaching methods, historical illustrations are paid more and more attention. Therefore, the source and correctness of these illustrations is particularly important.In this paper, the author analyzes the application of illustrations inhistorical textbooks in the case of the compulsoryeducationhistory curriculum standard test textbooks of Grade7(Volume1&2), published by Beijing Normal University Press and the ordinary high school curriculum standard test textbooksof compulsory [Ⅰ],[Ⅱ], and [Ⅲ] published by Yuelu Press. The outline of this paper is as follows:Chapter One is an introduction mainly expounds the proposal of the question and the significance of the selected topic;Chapter Two puts forward the definition of illustrations in history textbooks as well as the status and utilization in teaching. Besides, the thesis has detailed explanations about these few problems, which playa supporting role in discussing the core issue in the next chapter;Chapter Three is the core part of this paper. It makes a survey of the sources and origins of the illustrations in historical textbooks of different versions for different grades. I hopethese problemscan cause the attention of the authorities;Chapter Four undertakes above two chapters and makes a summary, suggesting reference conditions of the selection of historical illustrations.
