Adopting historical perspective, the method of writing history withthe combination of annalistic style and chronological style, this thesisrecords the two decades of development of music education in InternationalDepartment of experimental and leading high school through investigationand research of the current music education in International Departmentof experimental and leading high school.The thesis shows an objective and detailed presentation of the courseof two decades in music education of International Department ofexperimental and leading high school from scratch, in chronological orderfrom1993to2013, which mainly includes the examples of the InternationalDepartment in Shanghai High School, the Second High School of East ChinaNormal University, Nanyang Model High School and Jincai High School.It records the music education development of InternationalDepartment from the aspects of the novel course, concepts and effects offounding the International Department in the historical background ofreform and opening up policy, and the aspects of teaching environment,conditions of students and teachers, the curriculum of music activities,teaching content, evaluation systems, and music activities outside theclass such as performing arts, community activities, etc.The contents are objectively true, some of which are based onpersonal experience, so the author strives to records an objective andtrue two-decades course, as a participant, of music education inInternational Department of experimental and leading high school with thefirst-hand material, so that it provides first-hand information forfuture research in local school music education of InternationalDepartment.As a graduate thesis, the data is analyzed and studied~*based on the collection of the data.The first chapter illustrates a comprehensive analysis, from theperspective of social history, of the causes and context and historicalsignificance of its existence of the music education in InternationalDepartment. With the development of the society, economic globalization,Shanghai Pudong development and opening up, more and more foreignersswarmed into Shanghai, which conceived International Department.The second chapter gives record on the music education inInternational Department of the Shanghai High School and analysis of thereasons in every step of the music education growth of InternationalDepartment,It includes several questions to be answered. Why music education existsin International Department of the Shanghai High School? What is thesignificance of its existence? And why the next step of development came?What problems have emerged during the development? And how to solve aseries of problems are the main contents. The author divides the musiceducation development of Shanghai High School Internationa] Departmentinto three phases: start-up stage, development and maturity stage. Thisarticle uses the method of narration interspersed with comments, and itis analyzed on the basis of the investigation.The third chapter the author mainly focuses on the investigation andresearch of the music education in International DepartmenI from theSecond High School of East China Normal University, Nan Yang Model HighSchool and Jin Cai High School. It sums up a comprehensivesummary of the International Department of the three schools of musiceducation development and records of the respective characteristics fromeach of them.The fourth chapter uses a questionnaire survey on conducting researchof statistical data. The questionnaire is composed of special three parts for students to get a statistical analysis, in-depth understanding of thestudent’s attitude, acceptance, suggestions towards music education inthe International Department so that the obtained data can better makethe music education of the International Department get a healthy growth,and students get better music education. A comprehensive summary of themusic education development experience in International Department in twodecades, from the achievements to the problems in each stage is presented,which analyzes the problem, develop a historical perspective to fosterstrengths and circumvents the weaknesses, and promote the music educationof International Department towards a better future. From the perspectiveof social evaluation, achievements of the music lessons are elaborated,the significance of its existence are proved, and the future prospectsof music education of the International Department are blueprinted.Understanding history, recording history, learning from history, leavingfuture generations valuable historical information enable them to get abetter education.
