The elementary school teachers are one of the main powers in the basic education. Their professional development needs is not only a premise to promote the consciousness of their own development, but also makes the school according to the needs of teachers focus on teacher development and doing targeted training. The study of the professional development needs promote pre-service training institutions to make primary school teachers developing strategy on teachers’ professional development needs. At present, the society demand more primary school teachers, but we want to establish a group of high-quality professional development teachers, we need the primary school teachers to have the independent professional development needs.Their needs need society administrative department, schools and other parties to support and provide conditions to meet the needs of teachers. However, there are some problems on vocational self assessment, teaching professional accomplishment, teaching research and reflection, in-service professional development training and so on of elementary school teachers’ professional development, to some extent, this is bad for the realization of the elementary school teachers’ professional development needs and professional growth.According to the "primary school teachers’professional standard (trial)"that the ministry of education has just issued, elementary school teachers’ professional development is becoming a hot spot of theory research. In the overall professional development requirements, the primary school teachers of different regions, different grades, different titles and different teaching ages and so on have their own unique views and requirements on the professional development of the knowledge, ability and external support, etc. If we specifically promote the professional development of primary school teachers, we will receive a bigger effect. This research studies the current situation of primary school teachers’ professional development needs and the corresponding strategy from the perspective of professional development needs. Solving the problem of primary school teachers’ professional development needs, enhancing the self-consciousness of teacher’s professional development, taking effective measures to meet the demand of teachers is an important research subject with theoretical and practical value.The purpose of this study is to apply the theory of teacher professional development. By investigating the status of the primary school teachers’ professional development needs, the paper analysis of the problems, points out the cause of the problem and put forward the strategies about self-improvement of teachers’ internal motive, school meeting the in-service elementary school teachers’ professional development needs, and policy supports. Research also draws lessons from practice of professional development of foreign, aiming to promote primary school teachers’ professional sustainable development.Research focuses on the actual status of the primary school teachers’ professional development needs and adopts the literature search, questionnaire, interview and other main research methods. First, the paper overall analyze the demand and self view about primary school teachers’ professional accomplishment. Second, the paper research pre-employment professional development needs and in-service professional development needs. The paper focuses on analyzing the elementary school in-service teachers’ professional development needs of four aspects on teaching professional accomplishment, teaching research and reflection demands, In-service professional development training needs, the external support demand. Thesis makes research based on detailed data analysis, and true objectively reflects the status of elementary school teachers’ professional development needs to summarizes effective strategies to solve the real problem.
