Chinese teaching in rural primary schools makes its focus on the teaching ofcomposition which, as a written language, is considered to play an important rolewhen students trying to express their feelings and connunicate with others. However, the composition has long been a difficulty in Chinese teaching. Factors make theteaching tough. On certain aspects, the education concept held by the teachers in therural area is outdated, and some of the lessons, to some degree, are not attractive. Onother aspects, in the countryside, the distance, the lack of transportation, and thepaucity of the information media result in few approaches to the world and make thepupils narrow-minded. Worsely, to most of the parents, they feel it imporssible to giveguidance in study to the kids with their own poor education. All of the facts make thepupils less interested in writing. This paper is based on the research about thecomposition teaching in the Shagou Primary School through cirtical literaturereview, questionnairs and observation. It reviewes and discusses an aboundant ofachivements in the reseach of the composition teaching. The questionnairs and thepupils’ psycology in writing, as well as the Chinese text books, are analyzed in thepaper, according to which the effective teaching strategies that may improve thestudents’ ability to write and help them to a comprehentive development are provided.
