Teachers’ sense of efficacy is one of important educational view of teacher, Someoverseas researches show that teachers’ sense of efficacy is closely related to their workingzeal and teaching effects, which not only influences distinctly the selection and stability ofthe teaching activities, but also influences the teachers’ attitude to the teaching difficulties.Owing to the professional peculiarity, the mental health status of teachers not only affectstheir own health and behavior, but also widely and deeply affects the students through theireducational behavior, so people have placed more and more emphasis upon the mental healthstatus of teachers. Especially at present, teachers should affect students with their healthymentality, which is the most persuasive way of mental health education. Therefore, theresearch on teachers’ sense of efficacy and mental health status is of practical significance. Itcan enhance the quality of education and improve the quality of teachers as well.From above we know that teachers’ sense of efficacy and their mental health status areimportant aspects to affect the quality of teachers. In order to improve the quality of teacherswe should first harbor high quality of education and maintain the mental health of teachers.The research on teachers’ sense of efficacy and status of mental health becomes more andmore urgent. Thus it becomes an important task for all the educators to research on how toimprove the quality of college teachers, especially at a time when colleges are short ofteachers because of the expanded enrollment system. Considering the current socialbackgrounds and educational environment, this article puts emphasis on the research of thesense of teaching efficacy and its relevant factors such as mental health and personality. Itcan provide theoretical proof for cultivating teachers and enhance the quality of education.This article gives out questionnaire to520teachers working in some colleges in Hebeiprovince with the Scale for the Sense of Teaching Efficacy, SCL-90Scale and the EPQ-RSC.It shows:(1) the personal teaching efficacy of college teachers is much higher than thegeneral teaching efficacy.(2) The Teachers Sense of efficacy in college teachers has nodifference in sex.(3) The Teachers Sense of efficacy in college has significance difference indegree and teaching years. Teachers with undergraduate education have the highest teachingefficacy; the teachers’ efficacy of the teachers above25years of teaching is the highest.(4)The professional title greatly affects the general teaching efficacy of college teachers.Professors usually have the lowest teaching efficacy.(5) Gender and degree have an obviousinteraction to teaching efficacy; Gender and professional title also have an obvious interaction to general teaching efficacy; Degree and the years of teaching have an obviousinteraction to personal teaching efficacy.(6) SCL-90factor of college teachers is in inverserelation to teaching efficacy clearly.(7) The personality of college teachers forms relatesclearly with the teaching efficacy.(8) The status of mental health not only influences theteaching efficacy of college teachers directly, but also is the variable for the teachingefficacy.
