Shanghai was liberated in May 1949,the new peoples regime began to takeover the culture and education run by the former Kuomintang government. St. Johns University has carried on the reform of institutions of school management,curriculum setting,teaching management and so on under the guidance of relevanted education departments of the communist party of China.At the same time,the new government carried out the ideological learning movement, setting up political lectures, and studying current affairs and so on. Gradually in the course construction and party construction,ideological and political aspects have made new achievements. The teachers and students positive ideological and political reform also contributing to the St. John’s university freshmen.The new government changed their foreign policy after the outbreak of the Korean war in 1950. St. John’s university and other church schools faced huge twist. But under the guidance of the central committee of the communist party of China, the teachers and students of St. John’s university through the hard work make register put on record by St John’s university became the first private university. Along with the education policy adjustment in 1952, St John’s university in the national colleges and universities faculty adjustment, Various professional departments merger to other public and private universities, eventually dying gradually.The article through three parts discussed the liberation of St. John’s university seize and transform. The first chapter is described St John’s university set up process and situation before liberation, St. John’s university are introduced in the process of liberation takeover. The second chapter system of St John’s university is discussed in the aspects of teaching, politics, thought transformation. The third chapter discusses the with in 1950 after the outbreak of the Korean movement after St. John’s university is fully to take over the situation, the last of the cutting process of the St. John’s university and reasons are analyzed.The article through to the founding of the early development o f St John’s university study,basically restored the history of the university of St. John’s history of the original state. Although St. John’s university has faded, But the takeover, the transformation and comprehensive service from 1949 to 1952 is quite worth studying. By the case study of St. John’s university, brief analysis of the reasons for its demise and the status of Christian universities for the educational modernization. Finally, summarize the experience and lessons of the communist party of China and the government took over and reorganized the Christian universities, also can provide a useful and historical reference for the great development of Chinese higher education in future.
