With the nationwide increasing number of college graduates and the decreasing job opportunities, the employment situation has become much more severe. Following the "most difficulty year of employment", we have ushered in the "year of employment more difficulty", at the same time, the next few years the national college graduation numbers are increasing, the economic and social development is facing a "new normal" challenge, the problem of university students employment may exist for a long time.From the perspective of the whole world, youth unemployment problems, especially the problem of employment of university students has been a global problem. In the political instability, poor living conditions area, youth employment live hope, is the key to national, regional stability. In the period of transition of the developing countries, if not solve the employment problem of good youth, youth will not contain toward crime, lead to a surge in domestic social issues.In such a grim situation, the academic circles to the problem of employment of university students enough attention, attention also in rising. But the researchers have adopted similar research perspective and analysis of ideas:(1) analysis of the causes of the difficult employment, employment for university graduates can be attributed to numerous, school education can not keep up with the market demand for college students, professional skills and comprehensive quality training degree is not enough, there exists misunderstanding of college students employment concept.(2) the research on measures for the employment of university students, this kind of research is also huge quantity and homogeneity is relatively high, the macro government needs to actively develop economy, adjust the industrial structure, to provide a more active employment policy; the university should strengthen the training quality, strengthen employment guidance; college student needs to learn, increase employment skills. In general, academic circles study of excellent field less, there are a large number of low level repeat situation. But on the other hand,detailed and enriched researches have been done on the causes and countermeasures of the employment difficulty of college students. However, the impact and effect of the long- and broad-existing problem excite little interest. The existing research focused mainly on the negative impacts and very consistent.Functionalism dominates in contemporary sociology theory for decades, from a pioneer Comte, Spencer, Pareto, Durkheim and other classical sociology laid the origin theory of functionalism, Parsons to construct grand theory become a master of functionalism, and then to Merton analysis of the functionalism specification and the revision, the functional theory has been to the social reality full of care, with fresh vitality. While the functionalism theory of Robert K. Merton provides us a good perspective. As a social problem, its anti-functions are obvious, however it also has recessive positive functions. It allows college students to reduce their employment expectations, it gives enterprises access to inexpensive high-level talent, it conducts the development of market-oriented higher education, it helps adjust the direction of human capital investment and the training mode of colleges, Is conducive to straighten out the college students’ employment rules, clear job market signaling; helps to clarify the public and private education, increasing education investment efficiency; is conducive to the development of higher education marketization; it increases the pressure of college students and promotes the improvement of their overall quality, and it prompt us to reshape the education values from chaos to diversity. It can even become the weapon of the weak, called on the government to take feasible measures, forced the reform of education system. At the same time in the implementation of the function of the society does not necessarily have a specific system(or institution) to achieve the new idea, function alternative to us to solve the problem.The difficult employment of college students as a social problem, after the long simmering it interweave and other social phenomenon, is beyond the scope of people can control, around the problem of this one society has formed a social system itself, which in turn exerts the influence to the society, realize the function of. In this paper, using Merton function analysis theory, let us observe the positive function of the hidden, found the positive function of a social problem and not to defend it and let it has always existed, but in order to thoroughly explain this social problem, dig out the functional interaction contact it in the social structure in the position and with other elements. This is a new look at the issue of sociology angle.
