In the modern era, the individuals should possess more quality and ability to adapt the rapid development of society. Self management is one of the most important accomplishments to successful people. Without the sense and capability of self management, no one could adapt the modern society completely. Therefore, the self-value is difficult to come true. However, the self management should be brought up as a child, and the habit and ability of self management can be developed gradually.Modern education in China required that the students should possess the ability of self management. The real situation is that the students with high score and low ability are common in recent years which are not accordance with the requirement of quality-oriented education and contemporary education in China. Family education and school education should attach attention to this kind of situation. The primary students are full of curiosity and the mind of children is quite plastic, so the self management consciousness should be cultivated from childhood. Both family education and school education should make efforts to cultivate students’ subjective initiative to enhance their self management ability. In the essay, the connotation of self management is explained. According to the research to 400 students in four different primary schools in the development area of Dalian, the following self management problems existing in the high level students of primary schools are founded: a shallow self management consciousness, a lack of living self management ability and a deficiency of learning self management ability. Based on these problems, the author analysis the reasons and put forward several effective strategies. In the essay, the author pointed that in order to improve the primary students’ self management ability, the family education should change the traditional training method; the school should alter the traditional cultivation principle; the teachers should transform the unsuitable management thought; the students should apply their subjective initiative. According to the cooperation of family, school, teacher and students themselves, the self management ability of the high grade students in the primary school can be enhanced. Therefore, the individuals can achieve all-around development to become an outstanding talent who is adapted to the social requirement.
