With the development of economic and growth of population, a serious of important and urgent environment problems has continued to come forth. So it’s necessary to carry out environmental education in rural junior middle school. Puberty is the important period to build up correct values and views on life. The traditional enviromental education is dominated by teachers’ lectureing, students are lack of experience and sentiment of the enviromental protection practice, which is no helpful to cultivate the enviromental awareness of students. Therefore, we should explore new channels to carry out enviromental education. The significance of the study is to draw attention of people through investigation, then cultivate and develop students’ enviromental awareness.Methods of literature investigating, questionnaire survey, action research are used in the article. First, we can know the development of environmental education at home and abroad in recent years from the literature and realize the necessity of carrying out environmental education in rural junior school. Second, design and analyze the questionnaire. Analysis of interview and questionnaire survey, we find that environment attainments are in urgent need of being raised. So the author tried to explore a way to improve the environmental consciousness of people, which contains biology classroom teaching, theme practice, practical education activities. According to once again the questionnaire, the environmental consciousness of people has been improved, but it remains to be strengthened. Then, the author draws a conclusion that school-based practical activity is considered to be an important way to improve the awareness of environmental protection. Finally, the essay analyzes deficiency of the research and puts forward a few superficial ideas. School-based practical activity can enhance environmental education, which is suitable for rural junior middle school. In addition, environmental education is a long-term process, we should persist and make great efforts.
