On the Chinese intellectuals, Chinese failure was a burning shame in Jia Wu SinoJapanese War. At the same time,it was an important opportunity to change their ownideas. Wu Xu reformers which awakened from a “Celestial empire” dream, began thetransform by keen on reading an official instead focus on the nation and the fate of thecountry, and pondered over how to Chinese seek survival and development in themost changeful world pattern, so they went on a road of salvaging the country toexplore the ideological enlightenment.Their enlightenment education thought had formed Chinese modern historyideological emancipation trend, produced important influence on liberating peoplethought, enhancing the intellectual ability of practice, transforming of the socialclimate and atmosphere, squire and officials to join the ranks of Enlightenment. To anextent, their enlightenment education thought pushed the Chinese educationmodernization process, urged the new education system constantly improve, anddeveloped the bourgeoisie new education theory. At the same time, Wu Xu reformersenlightenment education thought concerned the basic value of human, centered onhuman, proceed with Education practice through the understanding of human, thereare a lot of inspiration for contemporary education.The whole thesis consists of six parts: the introduction, the first chapter “Thesocial and cultural background of Wu Xu reformers enlightenment educationalideology”, the second chapter “The connotation of Wu Xu reformers enlightenmenteducation thought”, the third chapter “The practice of Wu Xu reformersenlightenment education thought”, the fourth chapter “The characteristics, limitationsand time effects of Wu Xu reformers enlightenment education thought”, the fifthchapter “The revelations to contemporary education of Wu Xu reformersenlightenment education thought”.The introduction mainly elucidates the reason of the topic, significance of theresearch, literature review, research plan of thesis, etc.The first chapter, social and cultural background of Wu Xu reformers enlightenment educational ideology. This part mainly launches the elaboration fromthe social politics, economy, culture three aspects.The second chapter, connotation of Wu Xu reformers enlightenment educationthought. This part mainly launches the elaboration from the following three aspects:criticize the Old Learning, advocated Western Learning; establish new concept oftalents, develop “features nationals”;pay equal attention to science and democracy.The third chapter, practice of Wu Xu reformers enlightenment education thought.Wu Xu reformers mainly enlightened thoughts of the people through creating school,founding the press, organizing society and reform of the imperial examination system.The fourth chapter, characteristics and limitations of Wu Xu reformersenlightenment education thought and practice, time effect of their thought. Theirthought possessed the following characteristics: the combination of enlightenment andnational salvation, propaganda and social practice forming an integral part. Thelimitation of their thoughts and practice would be launched the elaboration from theimmature thoughts and the limitation on the Enlightenment education practiceobject.The time effect of Wu Xu reformers enlightenment education thought practicewould be launched the elaboration from the following parts: liberating people thought,enhancing the intellectual ability of practice, transforming of the social climate andatmosphere, squire and officials to join the ranks of Enlightenment.The fifth chapter, revelations to contemporary education of Wu Xu reformersenlightenment education and practice thought. Aiming at the problems ofcontemporary education, Wu Xu reformers enlightenment education and practicethought mainly provides reference from four aspects: break the exam orientededucation obstacles, pile out utilitarianism educational value orientation, fosterscientific ways of thinking and exploring spirit, realize the free and democraticeducation objective.
