Cultural communication has been a main content of International Chinese Teaching. As the capital of Shan State, the largest state of Myanmar, Taunggyi is represented in Chinese teaching and cultural communication. Its Chinese language teaching and cultural communication has certain representativeness.This paper takes Xinghua School, Donghua School and Guowen School, the three biggest Chinese schools in Taunggyi, as research object, aiming at expounding the present situation of Chinese transmission in Chinese schools by means of questionnaire, interviews in depth and case studies. And the paper tries to extract the problems existing in Chinese transmission in these Schools and accordingly put forward solutions and suggestion.Chapter one includes as follows:the cause and meaning of the research, the literature review of Chinese cultural transmission, the content and the methods of the research. Chapter two gives a brief introduction to the three Chinese schools in Taunggyi and makes a abroad approach to the present situation of Chinese cultural transmission of these Chinese schools.Chapter three consists of the following parts:first, the design of the questionnaire of Chinese cultural transmission, including the purpose, the basic condition of the interviewees, and the process of investigation; secondly, the analysis of the attitude of Chinese teachers and Chinese learners towards Chinese culture.Chapter four firstly investigates and analyzes the content, the activity and the way of transmission of culture that Chinese learners in these schools are interested. Secondly it conducts an analysis on differences between different genders and among Chinese learners of different levels in culture content as well as way of their transmission. Chapter five discusses the problems existing in Chinese cultural transmission in these schools and then puts forward appropriate suggestion. Chapter six is the summary of the full paper.Based on 231 samples and combined with interviewing and case studies of teachers and students of Chinese schools in Taunggyi, this paper draws a conclusion of the problems and difficulties of Chinese culture transmission in these schools as follows: the smaller number and higher cost for summer or winder camps organized by Chinese government, the lack of cultural artifactsThe lack of cultural environment,the lack of professional teachers, the lack of modern devices of multimedia, the lack of experience on Chinese culture, the learners’heavy burden on their schoolwork,the lack of learning time of culture. Accordingly, this paper proposes:to increase cultural courses, to foster a natural environment of culture through a variety of methods, to combine factors such as teachers, textbooks and methodology,to enhance culture teaching and effect of transmission.The innovation of this paper lies in,firstly, the topic is novel. This paper makes a first investigation to Chinese cultural transmission in Chinese schools of Taunggyi. Secondly, this research carries out a large number of interviewing, and undertakes statistical analysis on related data by means of SPSS, combining qualitative research with quantitative research together. This kind of research is relatively scientific.
