As a kind of modern social consciousness, citizen consciousness is gradually becoming a common education topic in the worldwide. The core of modern citizens’ quality is the comprehensive citizens’ consciousness, which is related with the country’s thriving and prosperity. With the development of socialist democracy and the rule of law construction, the cultivation of eligible citizen consciousness is increasingly focused by the party and the government. In the report of the 17 th Party Congress, the cultivation of citizen awareness has been regarded as an important task of the country. It is imperative to strengthen the cultivation of citizen awareness to count the situation of low citizen quality and faint citizen awareness.As the nation’s future and hope, middle school students shoulder the important mission of revitalizing China. Meanwhile, they have the abundant emotion world,strong self- consciousness and strong plasticity. Therefore, it is necessary to cultivate teenagers’ citizen consciousness during the stage of middle school. Aiming to develop the thought of "good citizen", the ideological and ethical education involves citizen consciousness issues in many aspects. Therefore, the ideological and moral education of junior high school students has become an important way to cultivate the citizen consciousness.This thesis is divided into four parts. The first chapter introduces the relevant overview of cultivation of students’ citizen consciousness in the ideological and moral education, and meanwhile, combining with the standard of ideological and moral course,analysis specific performance of citizen consciousness in detail in the ideological and moral teaching. The second chapter involves the necessity of teaching students citizen consciousness in the teaching, which is not only the objective requirement of promoting the all-round development of junior high school students, but also the internal demand of achieving the effectiveness of the teaching and the practical requirement for school education to adapt the society development. In the third chapter, the paper gave a summary of current development situation of the citizen awareness through the questionnaire and the reasons of the phenomenon in the aspects of society, schools and family. Based on the situation, the fourth chapter puts forward some points to strengthen students’ citizen from the dimension of strengthening the construction of teachers, theimplementing of teaching principle, improving teaching methods and integrating the social resources. This paper aims to find a way to strengthen the citizen awareness in the ideological and moral course and implement the cultivation of citizen awareness.
