As a way of education option, homeschooling turned up in America in 1960s.After several decades of development, homeschooling has become a kind of education that cannot be ignored. Nowadays, homeschooling, mainly represented by America, has already spread to other countries and aroused widespread concern of the public and the academic community. In view of the educational significance of homeschooling, the thesis reviews the history of development of homeschooling in America, analyzes its present condition and operation from macro and micro prosperity and discusses its odds and problems. It aims to analyze the feasibility of the homeschooling in China through the experience of American homeschooling and discuss the issues lead by the appearance of homeschooling in China.The article is divided into six chapters,the first chapter is an introduction, mainly describes the source of the problem, defines the relevant concepts,summarizes the study of the dynamic in American homeschooling at home and abroad, and illustrates the significance and methods of this study. Chapter two describes the background and theoretical bases of American homeschooling and analyzes the characteristics of its historical stages. Chapter three illustrates present condition of America homeschooling from macro prosperity specifically. This part gives a comprehensive introduction and analysis to American homeschooling from three aspects. There are the overall condition of American homeschooling, the operation of American homeschooling and support system of American homeschooling. Chapter four illustrates homeschooling in Pennsylvania. This part introduces homeschooling in Pennsylvania from its laws and organizations and uses a case study to help give a detailed analysis. Chapter five evaluates American homeschooling as a whole. This part analyzes American homeschooling’s characteristics and weaknesses by introducing its education effect. The last chapter mainly gives an introduction of homeschooling in China and analyzes the problems Chinese homeschooling faces through the experience of American homeschooling. More importantly, it explores the issues lead by the appearance of homeschooling in China in order to appeal for the open mind of homeschooling, the subjective consciousness of Chinese parents and the reform of school education.
