The improvement of talent training quality depends on not only the power of subject, but also the students quality. For the pedagogy subject, on the one hand, with the increasing enrollment scale of postgraduate students, more and more undergraduate students choose Pedagogies subject; on the other hand, the major approval level of pedagogy postgraduate students is not high. Faced with this situation, it is necessary and meaningful to study the major selection of pedagogy postgraduate students. Based on the self-edited 《Questionnaire about Major Selection of Pedagogy Postgraduate Students》, This research studies pedagogies postgraduate students of four universities in Jiangsu area. Study results are as follows:1. The basic characteristics of pedagogies postgraduate students:the sex ratio is imbalanced; postgraduate students from undergraduate students of non-pedagogy majors occupy a large proportion; students from lower level university to higher level university occupy a large proportion; family economic situation is in the medium level, students mainly come from rural areas.2. Based on different group characteristics, there are different considerations in major selection of pedagogies postgraduate students. The main influencing factors are personal factor, major factor, diploma factor, school factor, relatives and friends factor. They first of all think about school factor, secondly they think about diploma factor before major factor. They lastly think about relatives and friends factor. The motivation of major selection of pedagogies postgraduate students is summed up in six types:career pursuit type, self actualization need type, diploma type, school type, relatives and friends type and path-dependent type.3. Major cognition level of pedagogy postgraduate students totally is higher than the average level. They know themselves better, but are lack of the knowledge of career. Major cognition of pedagogy postgraduate students is not only in low level, but also with errors, which mainly are misunderstanding about study methods and future career.4. Major satisfaction level of pedagogy postgraduate students totally is higher than the average level, major satisfaction decrease as grade increase. Relationship between their major satisfaction and major selection is as follows:(1) Personal factor and school factor have positive effects on major satisfaction in major selection, diploma factor has negative effects. (2) Good self-cognition and major cognition have positive effects on major satisfaction in major selection. (3) In addition, attitude、autonomy、career definition、 attention to information、access to information and adequacy ratio of college information have positive effects on major satisfaction in major selection.
