Study On The College Students Major Selection Right And Its Implementation

With the social reform increasingly goes deep， the continually economicdevelopment needs the driving force of innovative talent. As an important part of thehigh level innovative talents， college students has a very important impact on China’seconomic and social development. The fostering of the innovation depends on theconsciousness， and the reasonable existence and proper expression of students’ rightare the fundamental guarantee of the implementation and exerting of the students’sconsciousness. In our higher education system， the major selection play as asignificant character in the personality and future career development of students.Therefore， if the colleges students have the right to choose their major， and how tochoose it is the current focus point of higher education. However， the planningeducation system which is long standing in our higher education system， lacks of theenough attention on the personality and right of students. Based on the Admissions�'Major Settings�'Courses select�'Enrollment training mode which designed bygovernment， students have to decide their major before start the college life. If theyfind the major does not fit for themselves， there will be little chance to change it. Asa result， the problems of enthusiastic about learning and the employment ofgraduates will occur. With the further enhancement of students’ conscious and thepopularity of higher education， the protection of the major selection right of collegestudents becomes an important topic of higher education reform.This paper mainly focus on the research and analysis on college students majorselection right and its implementation. Firstly， the relationship of the development ofcollege students and the right of major selection is analyzed， and the effect of majorselection for the development of student and the exist necessity of students’ majorselection right is also discussed. Secondly， the history and evolution of thedevelopment of China college students’ major selection right is analyzed. Thirdly，the current implementation status of college students’ major selection rights isdescribed， and the constraints of the right’s implementation are expounded based onthe degree of the right’s achievement. Lastly， several proposals of students’ majorselection right protection are proposed from both the students and the colleges’aspects. This paper argues that the government and the colleges should reform and optimize the system of major selection to meet the needs of the college students， andthe balance of majors structure in colleges and the equity of the major selectionshould also be protected. On the other hand， college students should also plan theircareer actively， which can help them chose the major rationally base on their ownfeatures.
