A Study On The Changes Of Patriotism Education In China

Patriotism education is the eternal theme of moral education, as well as an important part of school moral education. The development of the society, the changes of time, the revolution of the economic system, the specificity of the culture, as well as the similarities and differences of the nation, these factors make patriotism education endowed with new connotations in different historical periods. "Patriotism" is the core element of moral character and social value, its spirits must be reflected in the Chinese education. Thus, the author chose different Chinese teaching materials in different periods, to analysis the change of the content of patriotism education, to grasp the evolution of moral value orientation. Teaching material is one of the important media to inherit culture, experience and civilization, Chinese teaching material shows not only a series of characters of Chinese language, but also deep thoughts and feelings. Chinese teaching material is the carrier of culture and spirit. Patriotism education needs a certain fundamental, thus Chinese teaching material selection is very important.This paper makes a analysis about three Chinese teaching material of middle school, which published by People’s Education Press in the year of 1981,1993, and 2009, this paper aims to explore the proportion, the presentation, the characteristics, the evolution and the future development of "patriotic education" of Chinese teaching material during various periods. The background of this paper based on the importance of patriotism education, the particularity of Chinese teaching material and the new changes of curriculum reform. The significance of this paper explored with the effective of Chinese teaching research and the patriotic education. The author makes a literature review between education orientation of Patriotism education and the patriotic selection of Chinese teaching material, to carry out the innovation point of this paper, which is the author put the patriotism education as a separate part in teaching material, to make a deep analysis of the content, the proportion, the presentation, and the evolution of patriotic education of Chinese teaching material during three periods. What’s more, the author find out the development trend of patriotism education by the analysis of the orientation changes of Patriotism education in Chinese teaching material. On one hand, the author put political, emotional of motherland, and national development as three dimensions to establish a patriotic selection criteria. On the other hand, the author set the text content, the illustrations and after-school exercises as analysis indicators. The research result shows that the proportion of the party and the revolutionary leader own the most proportion of selected article in 1981, the orientation of patriotic education was nationalism; in the selection of 1993, there was less patriotic selection of political texts, the humanities education began to emerge; the selection of 2009 emphasize on the motherland emotion, the trend of patriotic education was inheriting excellent culture and highlight the national spirit.According to the similarities and the differences of patriotic education in the various periods of Chinese teaching material, the author think the changes of the school patriotic education orientation is:the national ideological education become to be weaken, and the advancing with the times, the returning of human nature, being dedicated has became the new trend of patriotic education. The development expectation of school patriotic education in our country is:to cultivate the students’ citizen consciousness, to pay more attention to evoke emotion, to fuse multiple culture, to express the characteristics of value should based on the language itself.
