With the development of economy, the progress of science and technology, the requirement of human to the environment increasing, the environmental problem is getting more and more attention. Modern society requires citizens that based on a correct understanding of resources, population and environmental. They should establish the concept of sustainable development and form civilized way of life and production. During middle school is the best period for students to establish the concept of sustainable development. Geography curriculum has its unique advantages in the implementation of environmental education. Geographical science is the subject of exploration of human and land’s relationship. Therefore environmental education is one of the important functions of geography teaching. Environmental education in senior high school is very important for the development of human society. Requirement of geography’s environmental education in the new curriculum standard is: "high school geography is a basic course for high school students understanding of the relationship between human activities and geographical environment, and establishing the concept of sustainable development." The new curriculum reformation advocates cooperation inquiry learning and studying useful geography for life. How to implement environmental education in geography teaching is worth thinking for teachers. In this paper, in order to investigate the implementation of environmental education in high school, three methods are adopted to have the research. They are literature research, case analysis and questionnaire investigation. This paper reviewed the research and development situation of environmental education abroad and in our country. We taked Xi’an Changan No.1 high school and the international department of Xi’an Gaoxin No.l high school as an example and selected two high school’s the first grade students and geography teachers as the sample. I choose the questionnaire survey and individual interview to investigate students and teachers in the process of teaching geography. The concrete contents include students and grasp the situation of environmental knowledge, the level of awareness of environmental protection, and teachers’ attitude for environmental education. Through the actual analysis of two schools’ situation and implementation of environmental education, I put forward some specific measures for the integration of environmental education in every class.Through the survey I found that more than 70 percent of students concern for environmental problems, and more than 60 percent of students have environmental awareness in their daily lives. But most of them lack of the basic knowledge of environmental. Because these two schools have different purpose, property, and courses, Gaoxin No.1 high school’s students have many community activities. About 50 percent of Gaoxin No.l high school’s students often take part in environmental protection activities, while 50 percent of Changan No.1 high school’s students join in it occasionally. And most of the teachers in the classroom for environmental aspects will carry out environmental education. This mainly because the school class and content of the course are different.Through the analysis of the feasibility of the implementation of environmental education put forward specific strategies for geography both inside and outside the classroom. In the classroom we can teach students by speaking, strengthen environmental education by discussing and exploring, deepen the environmental knowledge by multi-media, and popularize the knowledge about environment by case analysis. Outside the classroom we can take the investigation on-the-spot visit, carry out environmental educational lectures and association. Through the environmental community activities can improve students’ interest, help students develop a correct view of the environment and enhance environmental awareness.
