The unique style and value of classical poetry is different from other literary styles, It is an important part of the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation. It can edify sentiment. And also can improve the literacy of students. Therefore, the classical poetry plays an important role in the middle school language reading teaching. "General High School Chinese new curriculum standards" pointed out:"To understand poem, students must know the basic characteristics and performance practices; attempt poetry writing; understand the ideological connotations of the work, explore the rich implication of the work, to comprehend the artistic charm." However, how to make the classical poetry teaching to let the students fall in love with the classical poetry and actively learn the classical poetry, this is a problem worthy of exploration.There are four parts. The first part is the introduction, which mainly describes the origin and significance of the research, and briefly combs the academic articles or books related to the paper. The second part, through the students learning the status of the classical poetry survey results of statistical analysis, summed up the students in the study of classical poetry and the characteristics of the analysis of specific reasons. The third part, by making a comprehensive survey of the teaching of classical poetry in senior high schools, the teachers carry out the teaching of poetry mainly from the aspects of artistic conception, wording, means of artistic expression, reciting and writing from memory. These teaching methods catch the teaching content of classical poetry, but lead to the students dislike the status of classical poetry.The fourth part, the cultivation of the high school students classical poetry appreciation strategy, is the focus of this paper. Although these teaching methods capture the teaching contents of the classical poetry, they make the students abominate the classical poetry. Based upon the Chinese textbooks published by the People’s Education Press, the present study puts forward the following viewpoints by drawing lessons from the predecessors and aiming to attract student’s interest:First, text hierarchy. This point emphasizes that the teaching of classical poetry should lay emphasis on understanding the writers and their times, reading aloud and the expansion of teaching. Second, the levels of the receivers, In the process of the teaching, the teachers should start from the musicality of the poetry and attract student’s interest. They should also make use of the Montage technique in teaching. In the meantime, they should pay attention to foster students’ imagination.In the author’s opinion, Chinese textbook for senior middle school in the selection of classical poetry, teachers need stimulate students based on classical poetry in the poetry artistic conception, key words, the ideological content and artistic techniques to explain, in order to give full play to the classical poetry cultivate sentiment, improve literacy, aesthetic ability function. However, relying solely on the strength of teachers and students is not good, this also requires the joint efforts of experts, parents and everyone.
