In the 21st century is the information era dominated by knowledge economy, the rapid change of knowledge and the increasingly fierce market competition not only provide more opportunities for development of human society, but also put forward more higher requirements to talent training; so, high order thinking skills was born. Higher order thinking skills is a kind of comprehensive ability that one person perceives knowledge from a high order cognitive competence, it is indispensable skill for learners to survive and develop in current society as well as the development direction of new curriculum reform. However, how to improve the students’high order thinking skills is the primary problem that education workers are facing now, also is the important topic in education area.This research is based on the theory of Bloom’s taxonomy of cognitive objectives.lt takes the subject of physical sciences as an example on the issue of high order thinking skills training, investigates present situation of higher order thinking skills in high school students, analyzes the results of the survey and puts forward some teaching strategies to train higher order thinking ability in teaching high school physics.There are literature method, test method, interview method and questionnaire survey used in this research. The main research work is divided into the following five parts:1.Through reading a large number of relative documents, summarized both domestic and overseas studies of high order thinking skills, concludes the existing shortcomings in the previous studies, raises research questions, and briefly introduces the research contents, research ideas, research methods and research significance etc.2.This part is the theoretical basis. It defines the concept of higher order thinking skills and introduces the relevant theories which cultivates high order thinking skills. The theoretical basis includes:Dewey’s thought and teaching theory, higher order learning theory, constructivism learning theory, dialogue theory, which provide the basis for the questionnaire establishment and teaching strategies.3.On the basis of the existing research related questionnaire adapted high order thinking skills, investigation of the present situation of the high order thinking skills of senior high school students.This research uses the "questionnaire of high school students high order thinking skills" to investigate the high order thinking skills of 308 high school students, and obtained the following results:(1) The high order thinking skills of high school students is at the medium level, most of the students’thinking and cognitive level of dealing with problems is at a low-level, it need to be improved; (2) There exist significant differences in the high order thinking skills of students with different physical scores; the high order thinking tendency and high order thinking skills of these students with physical scores also have significant difference; (3) The high order thinking skills of students’in three different grades have no significant differences; (4) There is no significant difference in high order thinking skills tendency and higher order thinking skills between different gender students, but from the mean value, the high order thinking tendency of boys is superior to that of girls, namely, high order thinking skills such as problem solving, decision making, criticism, creation ability are stronger than those ability of girls.4.Through the analysis of the results of students’high order thinking,In order to solve the existed problem of high order thinking skills training found in this survey.we put forward teaching strategies on senior high school Physics Teaching:update teaching ideas, improve the consciousness of cultivating the higher level thinking skills; build the HOTS learning environment, construct the atmosphere of high order thinking skills development; choose the diversity teaching methods, and develop the students’ ability of high order thinking. In addition, this study proposes some key points to which physics teachers need to pay attention in training the high order thinking skills of students.5.This part is a research summary. It briefly introduces the main achievements of this study, the weakness of innovation, the future prospects for this research, and pointed out the direction for the future research of high order thinking skills.
