A Study On The Summer Camp Of Middle School Students In North Thailand

The Foreign Language Summer Camp is a kind of efficient short-term foreign language teaching form. With the continuous development of the Teaching Chinese Business in Thailand, the Chinese Summer Camp(hereinafter referred to as CSC) has grown rapidly in both the basic education and the higher education in Thailand. The CSC in the northern part of Thailand is a representative example in the short-term Chinese educations. This paper has analyzed the event planning process, the implementation process and the feelings and evaluations of the students by using the questionnaire method as well as summarized the characteristics and situations of the CSC organized in the northern part of Thailand. Then the author finds out that there are a lot of advantages and functions in the CSCs organized in the northern part of Thailand and it is an efficient teaching method to help the students in Thailand to learn Chinese and Chinese culture well. However, there are still several disadvantages, such as the time arrangement is unreasonable, the teaching content is large with little delights, the communication between students and teachers is not enough. Therefore, aiming at providing references and suggestions to the teachers, especially the novice Chinese teachers in the CSCs, the author has given some targeted improvement strategies, for example, the teaching content should be chosen according to the level of the students and their hobbies, the Thematic teaching method and communicative task-based teaching method should be used, and Thai can be used to help to communicate with each other.
