With the rapid development of social sports in our country, the quality of social sport talents has become more and more important. In China, the cultivation of social sport talents has been undertaken by social sport guidance and management in colleges and universities. However, there currently exist some problems in the professional education, such as orientation is not clear and the curriculum system is not perfect. Therefore, how to improve the training programs and further optimize curriculum system has become a new challenge faced by all the colleges and universities which has opened “social sport guidance and management” for undergraduates.Based on “Category and Introduction of Professions for Undergraduates in colleges” in 2012 and “National Standards for Education Quality of Sports Science Undergraduates in colleges” in 2014 both issued by Ministry of Education, this paper takes the training programs of social sport guidance and management independently developed by East China Normal University, Shanghai Normal University and Shanghai University of Sport as the research object. With the methods of literature review, questionnaire survey, expert interview and mathematical statistics, this paper analyzes the training objectives and curriculums of social sport guidance and management in these colleges and finds some problems in this major. In hope of optimizing training programs and improving the curriculums, the author puts forwards some practical suggestions for cultivating social sport talents. Some conclusions are reached by this paper:1. In terms of training objectives, these three universities all meet the relevant requirements of the Ministry of Education and focus on three aspects: the education of moral quality and humane quality, combination of basic skills with theories of social sports and improvement of practice and innovation capacity. These three universities have fully integrated social needs with their own advantages and formed their professional features, such as “scheme for sports advertisement” and “sports brands settings” stressed by East China Normal University and “sports tourism affairs management” by Shanghai Normal University.2. In terms of talent specifications, these three universities all meet the standards issued by the Ministry of Education, which emphasize on professional quality, professional knowledge, professional skills and application competence. Meanwhile, there are some differences among each talent specification, such as the cultivation of professional expertise stressed both by Shanghai University of Sport and East China Normal University while the requirements for student entrepreneurship and social services are neglected by these three universities.3. In terms of the curriculums, these three universities all meet the standards issued by the Ministry of Education. Compared with the other two universities, the credit of basic courses in Shanghai Normal University is higher, but the time and credit of professional compulsory courses is less. Besides, all these three universities have opened optional courses with their own characteristics based on training objectives and specifications, where its credit of Shanghai Normal University is 40 in line with the standards issued by Ministry of Education, while that of the other two universities is lower.4. In terms of the practice, these three universities all meet the standards issued by the Ministry of Education. But compared with developed countries, the percentage of practical courses of social sports occupies in the whole curriculum in Shanghai is lower, where the practical courses opened by Shanghai University of Sport is more diverse while the requirements for research training made by East China Normal University is more demanding than the other two universities.
