Enlightenment Of Mencius 'View Of Life On College Students' Life Education

As the hope of the nation and the future of the nation, and who are in the key period for the growth of life, facing the current fickle and utilitarian social ambiance, with the increasing pressure by work, learning and life, contemporary college students questioned the meaning and value of life, leading to phenomena, such as self-mutilation, Dutch act, homicide and animal cruelty etc. This phenomenon which is indifferent to life occurs from time to time, and the college students’ life education is imperative. University should carry out life education in order to make college students understand life, cherish life, reverence for life, enjoy life, and form a correct life values. Analysis of the causes of college students ignore life, one of the main factors is the lack of spiritual home, and promoting China excellent traditional culture is the inevitable requirement to build the spiritual home for college students, therefore college students’ life education can’t leave the fertile ground of Chinese excellent traditional culture. Confucianism as the mainstream ideology for more than two thousand years in China, contains a wealth of life ethics, and as the representatives of Confucianism, Mencius was later known as the "sage", he live in the early and mid-term of the Warring States period which people living in the endless war and dire poverty, and such an era, Mencius formed his life view on unprecedented awareness of life. Mencius life view contains rich educational resources for life, and has an important role on college students’ life education. The research of college students’ life education should continue to tap the beneficial thought from Mencius life view to provide the beneficial reference for the theory and practice of college students’ life education.There are three chapters in this paper:The first chapter is the summary of relevant content of the college students’ life education,including the conceptual explanation of life, life view, life education and the college students’ education, and the urgency and importance of college students’ life education, and the current situation of college students’ life education.The second chapter introduces the content of Mencius life view, including Mencius natural life view, spiritual life view and social life view. The main expression of Mencius natural life is that he focuses on human nature and cherishes life, pays attention to death which is derived from his nature life view; spiritual life view covers the scientific implication, moral implication and aesthetic implication, three implications are discussed in detail; social life view includes two parts of the group life and individual life.The third chapter discusses the enlightenment of Mencius life on college students’ life education. We can get the enlightenment of cherishing life and looking death which from Mencius nature life view. And we can get the enlightenment of constructing ecological chain of life education, paying attention to the cultivation of moral life and establishing a high spirited attitude toward life which from Mencius spiritual life view. We can get the enlightenment of training college students’ existent consciousness and harmonious consciousness, and the enlightenment to college students’ and life educator’s mission, which from Mencius social life view.
