Values are important for education since ancient times, which not only determines the individual’s lifestyle and life goal, but also affects ideal and habit of the whole society.Senior high school students are the hope of the nation and the country. Whether they can establish the correct values, not only directly affects their own development, but also associates to the rise and fall of their country and nation.Chinese is a basic discipline. The importance of its position in the high school curriculum is self-evident. Thus, Chinese is responsible for inheriting the excellent ancient culture, publicizing the achievements of today’s civilized society and enhancing the psychological health development of students.Chinese textbook is the important tool for students to learn and teacher to teach. The texts are important parts of Chinese textbook, the main characters in the textbook are important to students to grasp the meaning of texts and access to knowledge. Their values have direct effects for students to form values.In this paper, the main characters in the high school language textbook of RenJiao version are the research object. Considering the multifaceted literature, the literature analysis, text analysis, comparative method and so on were used to analyze the characters including the below four aspects:The first part is preface. In this part, we mainly discuss the research motivation, the core concept, research status of domestic and foreign review of this paper, research methods and research significance. In this paper, values have seven types:personal, family, state, social, national, international and natural values.The second part is content analysis and text analysis, we will use framework in first part to analyze the main characters’values. The results indicate that main characters’values in Chinese textbook do not include international values. Finally, we will discuss the main characters’values in detail.The third part is to evaluate the main characters’ values in Chinese textbook. The positive aspects include the following four aspects:First of all, personal view is the largest share which is helpful for self-awareness. Secondly, traditional culture can help students to develop their moral character. Thirdly, those values, in line with the characteristics of high school students’ages can promote the development of theirs mental health. The negative aspects include the below four aspects:On one hand, the value types are not comprehensive and the proportion of national and nature are too low. On the other hand, Chinese values and traditional values account too large proportion.The fourth part are the compiling suggestions to the values embodied in the high school language textbook of RenJiao version and the relevant recommendations on the using during the teaching process. Firstly, the following recommendations on the values reflecting in the textbook were proposed.1. Increasing the missing values and elevating the proportion of national and natural conception.2. Increasing Plural Value. Secondly, concerning the teaching about the values of characters in this textbook, the following recommendations for high school language teachers were proposed.1. Comprehending the relevant knowledge of the characters deeply.2. Probing the multiple values embodied in characters during the teaching process.3. Teachers should Play the leading role fully in the teaching process and guide students to appreciate the values of characters actively.
