According to particular pedagogies, instructional design is the process of generating teaching plan for optimizing teaching efficiency. Scientific instructional design, which builds a bridge between teaching and learning, can successfully assist teachers in completing teaching and improve teaching efficiency. Driving by students’ spontaneity and initiative, experiential learning emphasizes students’ personal experience in learning, organically combining learning with needs and interests of students. In learning manner, it demands students’ initiative exploration and direct participation in the formation of knowledge and emotion through real activities or circumstances. Applying experiential learning to teaching activity in primary science can help students gain a better emotional experience, integrating into personal experience through participation. This research aims at introducing experiential learning theory to science education in primary school. The instructional design can be conducted on the basis of experiential learning theory, advancing the reform of teaching method in primary science.This paper mainly adopts literature research method, interviewing method and case study method. In the first place, this paper analyzes the development and summarizes the connotation, feature and process of experiential learning theory through literature research. The basic framework of instructional design in primary science is set up in line with experiential learning theory. Then, based on the experiential learning, design and implement the selection of "New Life", the second unit in science Book 2 of grade four, published by educational science press. The main body of instructional design in this paper covers the design of preliminary analysis (including analysis of students and instructional content), teaching objectives, process, and evaluation. According to the operation results, the primary science instruction based on experiential learning can enhance students’ interest in science learning, deepening the understanding of scientific knowledge. Both of the participation and atmosphere in class are obviously better than the effect of previous teaching method.In general, based on experiential learning, students-centered instructional design in primary science is the extension of life. In line with the characteristics of pupils’learning, it gives significance to scientific learning activity. Not only does the instructional design stimulates the pupils’ interest in science learning, but also improves the teaching efficiency. Nevertheless, deepen reform of science curriculum, complete the system of science teachers’ training, and improve the teaching evaluation regime are required in order to further popularize experience learning theory in the primary school science education.
