The comparative study on botany textbooks for junior middle school helps to improve the quality of textbooks for compulsory education. The botany textbooks were subject courses after the foundation of P.R. China. From 1990, such situations have been changed, and several kinds of comprehensive biological textbooks were published in some provinces and municipalities. This thesis focused on the comparison of botany textbooks for junior middle school on the basis of document summary. It compared the differences between Botany published by the People Education Press in 1982 and 1992, and compared the differences among the comprehensive biological textbook edited by five provinces and municipalities, biological textbooks published by the People Education Press and Hebei Press. The conclusions of this study are as the follows: 1. It should be carried out the coexist principle of varied editions botany textbooks from the practice in China. 2. It should be increased the proportion of experiments in the botany textbooks, and should be transited from the experiments of testing and verifying to exploring experiments. 3. It should be enhanced the development of students?ability, especially the observation ability, experiment operating ability, analysis ability and initial creative ability. 4. It should be paid attention to the advanced knowledge besides the basic knowledge in the botany textbooks. 5. It should be enhanced the integration of theory with practice in the botany textbooks, and the STS education thought should be infiltrated in the textbooks. 6. It should be directed by way of natural science in the botany textbooks. 7. It should be integrate the logic order of knowledge in textbooks with the developing order of students physiology and psychology. 8. It should be reflected the way of scientific thought in the textbooks.
